Joel Nierman started his career as a digital media planner at Agency.com. He subsequently led digital media planning and buying teams and groups at a number of agencies, including MPG/MediaContacts, Charlotte’s Web Marketing (since acquired) and Critical Mass, where he directed the global media practice.
While at Critical Mass, Nierman evolved the offering, shifting from direct buying to a data- and research-driven, comms-planning-first unit. He worked across agency and client marketing teams, evangelizing the “media mindset”. After Critical Mass, Joel joined to Liquidus Marketing, where he led their ad technology division, consisting of the programmatic buying team, media product strategy and business development.
